What happens when an Automation Machinery Designer and a Biochemical Engineer team up? Scrubmission Soap.
After starting Jiu Jitsu, I quickly realised that skin hygiene is an important part of training. Like many grapplers, I spent hours on the mats every week and wanted products that were specifically designed for the demands of combat sports.
As someone who values quality ingredients and practical solutions, I couldn't find a soap that met my expectations. Most products were either packed with unnecessary ingredients or simply weren't created with athletes in mind.
So we decided to create our own.
Scrubmission was built for grapplers and active individuals who want a premium cleansing experience, carefully selected ingredients, and a product designed around life on the mats. Every product reflects our commitment to quality, simplicity, and helping athletes feel fresh and ready for their next training session.
That’s when I sat down with my wife and began experimenting with different formulations. It was a long and often expensive journey to find the right balance of ingredients and create a product we were genuinely proud of. I became the chief tester, using every version myself on a daily basis and refining the formula until it met our standards.
By 2022, I had completely switched to using our own soap and haven't looked back since.
I’ll be honest—I’m from the ghetto, and sharing has never come naturally to me. Growing up, if you shared something, there was a good chance it wouldn’t come back. So for a long time, I kept our soap to myself.
That changed when I gave a bar to my Sensei as a sign of respect. He really liked it. Then I shared it with my training partners, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Before long, they were encouraging us to make it available to more people and turn our passion project into a real business.
That encouragement became the foundation of Scrubmission.
I was happy just making it for myself, but if you’ve got something good, you shouldn’t keep it to yourself. You should share the love — like telling a friend about a new BJJ technique you’ve discovered.
I have a background in food and pharmaceutical machinery design. I’ve worked across various industries, delivering many different projects. My wife completed her BA in Chemical Engineering and her Master’s in Biochemical Engineering. She’s worked in quality management in several different pharmaceutical labs. We put our heads together and created a procedure to automate production, track every variable throughout the manufacturing process, and ensure we deliver the same quality every time.
